Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in my work and your intention to join my lab. Please refer to the following sections for more information:

Students:

Generally, I’m interested in working with students with excellent coding and simulation backgrounds. A strong mathematical/statistical foundation is preferred but not necessary. The followings skills will distinguish your resume from others in my evaluation:(1) A record of scholarly publication (quality over quantity), (2) Modeling & simulation experience in dynamic simulations of novel structural systems against earthquakes, (3) Advanced coding experience (e.g., Python, C++, C#, R, MATLAB) and working knowledge of FE software (e.g., Ansys, Abaqus, LS Dyna), (4) Coding experience in OpenSees (TCL- or Python-baseD) is highly preferred, (5) familiarity with machine learning is a plus but not necessary (we can work on this!).

Ph.D. Opportunities

My lab always looks forward to new Ph.D. students if funding opportunities exist! If you have your funding, please indicate it in your email inquiries.

I’m currently not recruiting any Ph.D. students.

M.S. Opportunities

I’m currently not recruiting any MS students.

Undergraduate Research Opportunities

I’m always interested in working with motivated undergraduate researchers who wants to explore academic research (or get a feeling about graduate school). There are also opportunities to support these students through USU Engineering graduate research program. I will be glad to discuss how I can provide mentorship and prepare you for research positions in academia/industry/grad school.

Collaboration

I always look forward to meaningful academic collaboration and industry partnerships in my research areas. If you want to discuss such opportunities, please send me an email here: mohsen.zaker [at] usu [.edu]
